“ Perkele is the supreme god associated with thunder in Finnish mythology, like Thor/Tor from Norse mythology. Perkele was referred to with a variety of names, including Ukko "the Old Man" and Ylijumala "the Supreme God." In modern Finnish perkele is a common swearword.

The word perkele is still used regularly in Finnish culture, as a swear word. It has still retained some of its original meaning as it's still used to portray strength and determination and even summon extra strength. It is not, however, associated anymore to a native god of Finland.
